National Economic Council Begins Study Tour in Rwanda to Learn from Post-Conflict Economic Development Experience

The National Economic Council (NEC) of Somalia has embarked on a week-long study tour in Kigali, Rwanda, bringing together National Economic Advisors and NEC staff. The delegation has kicked off their trip with a visit to the Rwanda Cooperation headquarters, where they were warmly received by its CEO, Ambassador Christine Nkulikiyinka.

The purpose of the study tour is to gain insights from Rwanda’s post-conflict economic development experience, which has been hailed as a success story. The NEC delegation is keen to learn about the policies and programs that Rwanda implemented to promote economic growth and development in the aftermath of the 1994 genocide.

During the visit, the NEC delegation will meet with various stakeholders in Rwanda’s economic sector, including government officials and private sector leaders. They will also visit several government institutions to gain practical insights into Rwanda’s economic transformation.

The study tour is a significant step towards Somalia’s efforts to rebuild its economy and promote sustainable development. By learning from Rwanda’s experience, the NEC hopes to identify policies and strategies that can be adapted to Somalia’s unique context and contribute to the country’s economic development agenda.
