3nd NATIONAL ECONOMIC POLICY FORUM

The  National  Economic  Council (NEC)  was  established  on  the  11th   of  August,  2018  by  a Presidential Decree, the National Economic Council is chaired by the President of the FGS or the Prime Minister as alternate, the members are the Presidents of Federal Member States, the economic sub-committee of Cabinet, the Governor of the Central Bank of Somalia, and five (5) national economic Experts and four international experts. The National Economic Advisors (NEA) team supports the NEC in conducting evidence-based research on economic and social issues of concern to the nation. Also, An Economic Policy Analysis Unit, which is the technical arm and Secretariat of the NEC, is to support on research and related technical activities, such as the preparation and organization of the policy forums and conferences and the delivery of the NEC’s periodic Consultative Meetings. National Economic Council hosted its second-high level National Economic Policy Forum on the

13th  of June 2019 in Mogadishu Somalia. The forum was supported by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) together with the World Bank.
