Abdisalam Mohamed is an accomplished applied economist with extensive experience in economic research, lecturing, and consultancy. He possesses strong analytical skills and has applied quasi-experimental methods in economic research. Abdisalam also served as a lecturer of Economics and Econometrics at universities in Somalia and worked as an economist and advisor on projects in Norway. As a Senior Economist at the Ministry of Finance in Somalia, he shaped fiscal policies, while his role as an Economic Development Expert at the Ministry of Planning Investment and Economic Development (MoPIED) contributed to Somalia’s national monitoring and evaluation (M&E) framework for the National Development Plan Nine (NDP-9). Abdisalam leads the financial sector development workstream at the National Economic Council (NEC). He is also affiliated with the London School of Economics Conflict Research Program as a Research Associate. Abdisalam is pursuing his PhD in Economics at the University of Glasgow in Scotland, UK. Through his working experience and academic background, he has built strong advocacy and collaboration skills that foster economic inclusion and champion policy reforms for sustainable growth.
