Somalia is considered to have one of the poorest economies in the world primarily because of its failed statehood, fragile government, weakened institutions, infrastructure deficit, and unbalanced trade. These issues have been exacerbated by many decades of armed conflict, natural disasters, disease outbreaks, famine, underutilized human capital, fragmented donor resources, and untapped and natural resource. Also, extreme weather changes, weak institutions, dilapidated infrastructure, and the recent COVID-19 shock have exacerbated the humanitarian crisis.
