Officials from the National Economic Council (NEC) of Somalia led by Prof. Hussein Warsame and Dr. Sakawddin Mohamed who are among the National Economic Advisors (NEAs), accompanied by the Deputy Programs Director of the NEC, Mr. Abdisalan Artan, paid a courtesy visit to the new Minister of the Ministry of Planning, Investment and Economic Development (MOPIED), H.E Mohamud Abdirahman (Beenebeene).
After congratulating the Minister on his new role, they briefed him on the ongoing programs of the National Economic Council including the finalization of the Growth and Economic Transformation Strategy (GETS) as well as other upcoming studies. They have also underscored the importance of strengthening collaboration and the working relationship between the Ministry and the NEC.
On his part, the Minister welcomed the team and applauded the remarkable work accomplished by the NEC over the past four years despite the mounting challenges. H.E Mohamud also highlighted the significance of carrying out research prior to the formulation of key government economic and social policies, while noting the significant role the NEC plays in this regard.
